Title : DELHI-NCR Junior Gaming Championship (2017-18)
The gaming championship was organised by Delhi Public School R.K.Puram in association with Skirongaming company on 14th September , 2017. 65 students from senior school and 46 students from middle school participated in the event.
The senior school boys pitted against each other in Call of Duty-Black Ops and middle school students enjoyed Fifa 2017.
Apart from competing with each other, many students were given an opportunity to experience latest technology in gaming using Play Station-4 and Virtual Reality. The pleasure of playing on play station 4 with an experience of Virtual Reality was not only enjoyed by students but also by senior school teachers.
The top two scorers from the elimination round will be playing finals during Exun -2017, the technology event of DPS R.K Puram.
St Columba's school held the annual Columban Open Quiz on 25th August and 2nd September, 2017. The much awaited event on the Delhi school circuit saw 270 teams from in and around Delhi participating with great gusto.
A grueling preliminary round was followed by the semifinals and culminated in the finals with 12 schools vying for the top honours.

The nail-biting finish saw DPS Noida lift the prized trophy followed by Modern School, Barakhamba Road and the hosts at second and third place respectively.
The winning team won the coveted rolling trophy and a cash prize of Rs.6000/- and the teams in 2nd and 3rd places won Rs. 4000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively. All the other finalists won a cash prize of Rs. 1500/- each.
The quizmasters for the finals were Mr. Kunal Savarkar, Mr. Abhishek Kapoor and Mr. Rabin Jacob. They were ably supported by a very enthusiastic and able team of ex Columbans who conducted the prelims and semifinal rounds.
The sponsors for the event were the Oxford University Press.
Elocution for classes 11 and 12 was organized by the Senior School from 8th August to 11th August 2017. It was an inter- class competition which included both group elocution and individual elocution. The extra-ordinary performers were felicitated with 1st,2nd, 3rd position and all the participants were given certificates for the immense effort and hardwork they had put in. It was an enriching learning experience for the classes and they truly understood the meaning of teamwork n class- spirit. The event also gave an opportunity to the students who were good orators and good at recitation to showcase their talent on stage.
The much awaited Best Speaker's Debate was held on Tuesday, the 1st of August, 2017 in the Edmund Rice Hall. The topic for the Debate was Good Fences Make Good Neighbours. The Debate was adjudged by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. Usha Ram (former Principal, Laxman Public School), Dr. Abha Yadav( Head of Legal Department, JNU) and Mr. Nizam Pasha(Columban from the batch of 2001, practising lawyer before the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court). Class 12 was represented by Elvis Francis, Varun Agarwal, Ritwiz Sarma, Jeril Philip and Divyam Gupta. The from Vlass 11 were speakers Aaditya Verma, Rohan Baijal, Ramandeep Singh, Madhav S Goel and Adeesh Ghosh. The closely contested Debate was won by Class 12. Ritwiz Sarma won the award for the Best Speaker and Adeesh Ghosh was adjudged Second Best Speaker. MKS Shrikanth won the prize for Best Interjector.
On 27th July , Investiture ceremony was organised during the morning assembly to distribute the batches to the members of newly elected student council. On this occasion the students took an oath to abide by their duties and work for maintaining the discipline in school. This opportunity grooms our students to inculcate valuable leadership skills and a sense of responsibility towards this prestigious institution.
The inter class Debates for class
XI were held from the 6th -11th of July in the middle school auditorium.
The esteemed panel of judges comprised professionals as well as past pupils of
the school . A wide variety of topics ranging from extremism to licensing
parents were debated with gusto by speakers .

Our school magazine 'The Columban 2016-2017' was released on 14th July 2017 during the senior school Award Ceremony by our chief guest. This edition of the Columban aims not only to celebrate the glorious and resplendent past 75 years, but also to present you the vision of the illustrious and magnificent next 75 years of this great institution. It?s a memoir meant to instill nostalgia but also fill you with anticipation.
Akshay M. of class XII C, was appreciated through a photo opportunity and autograph by the Honourable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on the 23rd of July, 2017 at Rashtrapati Bhavan , New Delhi in recognition of his winning the silver medal in the International School Sports Federation Combat Games (ISF World School Combat Games, 2017) held at Agra, India.

Annual Award Presentation Ceremony-2017
The annual award presentation ceremony for the academic year 2017 was held on July 14,2017 in the Edmund Rice Hall. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. A. Mehra as the chief guest along with our patrons and the proud parents of our awardees.
The ceremony commenced at 9:00 am with the lighting of the traditional lamp. The award presentation was conducted very ably by Jeril Philp, Srijan Devnath and Abi Antony of class XII. The chief guest and patrons were invited to present the various awards to the awardees. The school band rendered the song which reflected the theme- success amidst adversity. The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Mr. N.Chopra who then invited guests for refreshments.
