DATE : 24TH July 24, 2015

The awards for the Middle Section were held on 24th July 2015. This year the awards were christened "CHAMPS 2014 - 15".

The Awards ceremony began with the song TRIBUTE TO EDMUND, followed by a floral invocation to the SIGNIFICANT PRESENCE by the Principal Brother Beddoe, the Headmistress of the Middle Section Mrs Sheel, Brother Edwin and Mrs Beddoe.

The students were acknowledged for their achievements in academics with awards like the STAFF SOCIETY AWARD, the PAMELA BAWA AWARD, the UMESH ARORA AWARD, the R.N. DASGUPTA AWARD etc.

It is heartening to see that some of the newly instituted awards acknowledge the efforts of the academically weak students. The awardees for these prestigious awards are selected after several rounds of debates and discussions among the teachers. It has been observed that over the years more of our so called academically weak students have started performing well after their sustained and sincere efforts have been rewarded at the annual awards ceremony. The others are also encouraged to give academics a chance!
Such awards like the K.K. AHLUWALIA AWARD for the most improved student from class 2,3,5,7 and 9. The ANGELO FRANCIS MENDONCA AWARD given for sustained effort from the Enrichment Centre. The RAMCHAND DASS AWARD for the most improved student from class 6. The DEEPA BHATNAGAR HINDI PROTSAHAN AWARD for improvement in Hindi in class 8.

Mere academics are not acknowledged and awarded in isolation but to ensure the holistic development of the Columbans awards like the NIPUN UPADHAYAY AWARD are given to a budding Tendulkar from class 8. The DEEPA BHATNAGAR MUSIC AWARD is a highly coveted award for music. The H.S. SETHI AWARD is given for social service.

The awards ceremony concluded with the two fiercely contested and highly coveted award which every Columban in the Middle Section strives to achieve. The RAMANSUBRAMANYAM AWARD for ALL ROUND EXCELLENCE which was won by ARYAN VIJ CLASS 10 B. and the COLUMBAN OF THE YEAR ROLLING TROPHY which was won by TUSHAR JAIN 10 E.

The theme of the Awards was conceptualized and developed by Mrs Patricia Anne Beddoe, Creative Head of all events in SCS. Mrs. Beddoe works tirelessly guiding the teachers and students to raise the bar for all functions.

The awards ceremony concluded with a speech by the Principal Brother Beddoe and Mrs Sheel gave the Vote of Thanks.

During the informal interaction with the patrons and parents over tea, some patrons and parents offered to institute new awards for the next academic session in newer categories. Our heartfelt thanks to our patrons and parents for always supporting our endeavors and our tireless efforts in transforming our young lads into saints, scholars and gentlemen.
